J-Canine Pet Resort is owned and managed by president, Joni Huff, who has over 30 years of experience in the pet care industry, having been involved in training and caring for animals for much of her life.  During this time, she earned numerous AKC dog obedience titles on different breeds.  As well as having trained and competed with her own dogs, she has instructed private and group obedience lessons, trained dogs for clients, managed a boarding facility, and groomed various breeds.  Joni has also been actively involved with rescue for the past 20 years.  She has fostered many homeless pets in her home for many different breed, all breed, and cat rescue  organizations.  Joni lives with quite a few critters, including her horses, Dobermans, and Heelers.  She also loves her orange kitties!

Liz is a manager at J-Canine Pet Resort and has worked with Joni since before we opened.  She works primarily at the front desk, but you'll find her working closely with the dogs, too.  She grew up in Rosenberg and went to school at Sam Houston and the University of Houston.  Liz actively competes in agility with her Australian Shepherds, Quid, Brite, and Bert and serves as the secretary for over a dozen agility trials a year throughout the country.  She also has a 15year old son who enjoys animals as much as she does and wants to work at J-Canine someday!

Melinda is our other manager and has been with J-Canine since June of 2008.  Before then, she went to college at Texas Tech in Lubbock and worked at a different kennel before discovering J-Canine.  In addition to working the front desk, you will also find her in the back playing kennel technician.  She loves her large breed dogs, and currently has a Mastiff and a black lab.  In her spare time, she enjoys leatherworking, shooting sporting clays and skeet and anything that involves being outdoors.
Martine Kopka, CPDT-KA is the Training Coordinator at J-Canine and enjoys helping people better understand their pets by teaching modern, positive-based reinforcement training techniques.  Her lifelong interest in animal behavior & training became a passion when she adopted Henry, a deaf and vision-impaired Catahoula Leopard Dog in 2004 and began teaching him sign language. Her own pets became the driving force for her to join J-Canine’s program in 2007 where she currently teaches Puppy Head Start Class, Basic Pet Obedience, foundation classes for Performance dogs, as well as Intermediate and Advanced Agility classes.  Learn more about her, her dogs, and our programs on our Agility page.
Yoselin has worked at J-Canine since 2011, when she started right after high school.  A friend who was working here told her it was the best job around and she hasn't looked back!  She is currently going to school at WCJC.  Yoselin is a writer and loves reading and creating stories.  She also loves to exercise so she enjoys the pace here at J-Canine!  She has three dogs (Gordo, Copper, and Julie) and three black cats at home. In 2014, she invited her brother, Daniel, to work here, too.
Emely started working at J-Canine in July of 2014.  Her friend Kristi had worked here for years and always talked about how great her job was, so Emely decided to join the team!  She's currently going to Sam Houston State University to earn her degree in Theatre Education and volunteering with the SHSU Lions Club, but works at J-Canine as often as she can.  We love having her for weekends, holidays, and summertime!  Emely has three small dogs and two cats of her own and loves getting to help people by taking great, loving care of their pets while they're at J-Canine.
Victor started at J-Canine in 2015, after applying because on the recommendation of a couple of friends.  He graduated from just around the corner at Brazos High School.  Victor has three Chihuahua mixes and enjoys bouldering and indoor rock climbing.  Victor loves the positive environment at J-Canine - both with the people & the pets!!
Jocelyn is one of our newest J-Canine additions, starting in 2015!  She's a local girl, graduating from Dulles High School in 2006.  Jocelyn had a super cute 3 year old lab/boxer mix named Sarge who is her best buddy!  She has been a volunteer with the Rosenberg Fire Department for the past year and a half and loves that J-Canine lets her focus on the animals and stay balanced in her life.  Jocelyn also enjoys painting, reading and spending time with her family.  We are lucky to have her!
Brian joined the J-Canine team in November of 2015.  He lives with his family near us in East Bernard and has grown up with an assortment of spoiled rescue dogs and cats and even a feisty little Quaker Parrot!  Before working here, Brian worked at a local convenience store, played bass for a band named Civeta Dei, and hung out with his godsister Rayne.  In his spare time, Brian likes listening to and reviewing music online, as well as making his own (including writing songs for his dog!).  He also plays video games and loves reading and writing short fiction.  In addition to all that, he owns too many insturments to list and taught himself how to play bass, guitar, banjo, ukulele, drums, piano, and mandolin.  Brian is also a twin!  We are so glad to have him here!
Malori has worked for J-Canine since early 2016.  She lives with her family and a 3 year old rat terrier named Jack, a hermit crab named Kermy, and a sucker fish named Swimmy.  Before working here, she was a lifeguard for 4 years at the East Bernard City Pool.  Malori enjoys swimming, skateboarding, and playing video games.  She is currently attending WCJC and is a good percussionist and can juggle!
Carrie is our newest receptionist at J-Canine.  Carrie was born in Oklahoma but grew up on their family cattle and grain farm in Midwest Illinois.  She recently moved to Texas with her husband and children and started working for us!  Carrie graduated from Beardstown High School and completed a Medical Assisting Program through Midwest Technical Institute before becoming the main office assistant for Lincoln Land Animal Clinic.  She and her family love to hunt, fish, and go on new adventures together.  Carrie has had several pets in her lifetime, but her favorites were always her working dog Dalli and her 20 year old barncat, Bandit.  She has always been a believer in positive reinforcement and low stress handling when it comes to pets and is thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of J-Canine.
Gilbert has been with us since May of 2008.  He's the best maintenance guy in the world, keeping up with all of our yards and honey-do lists around here.  He's the reason the yards and flowerbeds look as pretty as they do, and he can fix just about anything!  Plus, the horses are always glad to see him coming with their food and treats!  He lives nearby with his son who is in high school.
